Description: STARSKY & HUTCH follows two Southern California police detectives as they tear around the streets of fictional Bay City, California, fighting crime and falling in love. David Michael Starsky was played by Paul Michael Glaser. Starsky was streetwise and intense -- a dark-haired, Brooklyn transplant and U.S. Army veteran with a, sometimes, childlike moodiness. Kenneth Richard "Hutch" Hutchinson was played by David Soul. Hutch was a divorced, Midwest native with a more reserved and intellectual approach. Together, they were a crimefighting one-two punch. The third star of the show was Starsky’s bright red, two-door Ford Gran Torino with large white vector stripe on each side. Nicknamed the “Striped Tomato” by Hutch in episode four of the first season, fans soon adopted the name as well. Four different cars were used during filming which led to some slight continuity errors particularly during closeups. Not all of the cars had the same color wing mirrors. The show was created by William Blinn and produced by Spelling-Goldberg Productions. In addition to Starsky & Hutch, Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg teamed up to produce some of the most iconic shows of the 70s and 80s, including Charlie’s Angels, Fantasy Island, Hart to Hart, and T. J. Hooker.
